Persian Keshan With Water Damage and Dry Rot
This 70 year old handmade Persian Keshan was in need of a serious makeover. The light colored background is unusual for a Persian Keshan and this light colored background has been given the nickname of “Blonde Kashan”.
The rug had sustained many years of wear and tear and had a large area that had been sustained water damage and dry rot due to a flower pot left on top of the rug and watered.
After a restoration cleaning the rug went to our repair department. The ends were fixed, some white knots were touched up, some worn areas were rewoven and the large damage area was rewoven by our talented craftspeople. It took almost 3 months to complete the repair and when it was the completed the work was virtually invisible. The rewoven area look like it had never been damaged and never repaired.
The client received the rug back and couldn’t believe how fantastic the rug looked. In fact, the owner questioned if the rug she got back was really hers!!
