Hand Cleaning of Large 50 Year Old Handmade Persian Rug

We were asked by a longtime famous Rug Dealer in New York City to restore and hopefully bring back to life a 50 year old hand made Persian (Iranian) super fine wool and silk Tabriz Rug, valued in excess of $100,000.00.

Apparently the rug belonged to a customer of his and it was involved in a flood, where dirty water affected about 50% - 60% of the rug, causing it to be discolored and stained with the dirt, debris and other particles in the water.

The water damage also caused many of the colors in the rug to run and bleed into the other colors as well as the beige background.

Because of the extremely high value of the rug the client wanted the restoration work done in segments. First was the cleaning. The rug was thoroughly washed to remove the dirt, discoloration and smell. The trick is to perform this service while not causing more of the fugitive dyes to bleed further. We successfully did this.

We sent the rug back to the importer for his inspection and told him we could remove much of the color run by implementing our hand restoration technics and the application of proprietary chemicals.

The importer spoke with his client and agreed to have us complete the restoration. So off to work we went and through a combination of hand technics, various applications of chemicals and two more completed wet cleanings we brought the rug back to about 85% - 90% of its pre-loss condition. The rug was dried as carefully as it was washed so as to not have any more color run.

The importer was happy and the client now had their valued rug back in very good condition and ready to be used for another 50 years.

Our company believes in the value of hands-on, personalized approach when providing services to our clients. This is our secret to gaining the trust of our clients when it comes to their carpet and rug needs. We have over 500,000 customers who trust us for their fine carpet and rug care.
